Terms of Service
Last updated 9 June 2026
These terms cover use of Bulwark, an open-source, self-hostable CAPTCHA. By using the software, embedding the widget, or completing a challenge, you agree to them.
1. The software
Bulwark is free and open-source. You may self-host, modify, and distribute it under the terms of its license. The project name and branding remain the property of their respective holders.
2. Acceptable use
- Do not use Bulwark to facilitate illegal activity or to harm others.
- Do not attempt to circumvent, automate, reverse, or defeat the challenge on a deployment you do not operate, or interfere with its normal operation.
- Do not deploy Bulwark to collect data in ways that conflict with its Privacy Policy or applicable law.
3. For visitors completing a challenge
Completing a Bulwark challenge confirms only that the request appears to come from a human. It grants no account, entitlement, or guarantee; the website operator decides what a successful verification permits.
4. Operator responsibilities
If you deploy Bulwark, you are the operator and are responsible for your instance: configuration, security, lawful use, and any notices required in your jurisdiction. Review and adapt the bundled Privacy Policy and these Terms for your deployment.
5. No warranty
Bulwark is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. No CAPTCHA stops all automated abuse; Bulwark raises the cost of abuse and blocks naive automation, but is not represented as an absolute guarantee against bots.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the software, including abuse that bypasses a challenge.
7. Changes
These terms may change over time. Material changes are reflected by the date above; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
